Some of the best airline rewards card programs are now increasing the benefits that they provide to individuals. With consumers looking for ways to save money, these rewards programs can be the ideal place to do so. It also helps to put the credit card lenders in a more favorable look after the last few months of increasing interest rates, new and higher fees being tacked on to cards and with fewer reward programs even being available.
Citibank
One of the options that users have is the Citibank credit card. This company has announced that it is improving the miles to dollar ratio on the American Airline cards. The increase will amount to 1.2 miles per dollar spent, which is up from the standard one miler per dollar spent ratio. Only those customers who are considered good customers, with good credit scores will see this increase though.
JPMorgan Chase
Another of the best airline mile credit cards is the one offered by JPMorgan Chase. The company has also announced a new initiative for their co-branded British Airways program. The company is also increasing the miles to dollar ratio on this line. Here, good customers will receive 1.25 miles for each dollar that they spend using their card. In addition, the company is also increasing how much you can earn on other travel benefits including the Marriott branded cards it offers.
Chase
Chase offers the Freedom card. This card gives users cash back on some of their purchases. It has increased what it is paying out in rewards, too, upping it from three percent to five percent on certain types of purchases.
Why the Increase?
It may seem counterproductive for companies who are facing increased pressure from the limitations placed on them through the new credit card laws to increase the rewards that they offer. However, there are several reasons why this is a good option for all involved.
- When lenders offer rewards cards like this, it builds up loyalty in users. You are likely to use the card that gives you something back more so than the one that does not.
- Those who use rewards credit cards are unlikely to default. Lenders know that those who do use these lines are less likely to default on their debts.
- The more that the consumer charges, the more that the lender makes. One to two percent of any transaction goes to the lender directly as an interchange fee. Therefore, they make money on this transaction.
Some of the best airline mile credit cards provide consumers with key benefits. If you are going to travel, or you wish to save up for traveling, these lines can be the best way to cut your overall costs.
Each line is different, though, with different interest rates, terms and limitations, so users should take the time to compare several before investing in one or the other. With these improved airline reward card offerings, many more people are going to be looking towards these better lenders.
